The Praise God Challenge

Thank you so much for all your kind words and prayers regarding my parents. As I write this, on top of everything else that has been going on, I am lying in bed with a bad case of the H1N1 virus. I had been washing my hands frequently and using hand sanitizer at both the hospital and the rehab center. I hope and pray my parents do not get this, as I had been visiting them daily right up until yesterday, when I started developing symptoms of the virus. Please pray that they do not get sick, as they have multiple health problems that suppress their immune systems.

It seems like there has been so much happening in our lives lately, as well as in those of the lives of family and friends. This makes me think of James 1:2-3,
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." As difficult as our trials may seem, I still want to be able to praise God through them. For the last week or so, amidst the trials, I have been able to find a praise God moment every day. For this reason, I have started a group on Facebook called The Praise God Challenge. If you are a Facebook member and would like to join, please click here.

I'm linking up with Charlotte and Ginger's Spiritual Sundays this week. Please visit their blog for some great spiritual food!

Thanks for stopping by!

American History, I visited your web site. With all due respect, I don't see anything in the scriptures that says I should have to pay someone to pray for my family. I don't think that's the way God intended prayer to be.

Please take care of yourself and thank you for uplifting us with your sharing of scripture. It is in the times of our trials that God grows us the most. May God bless and comfort you dear blog friend.

Jane, I'll add this to my prayers for your situation. I'm so glad you are looking for ways to praise God through your trials. That is not always easy for us. I draw comfort myself knowing that everything that comes into my life is of His ordering, and His grace is sufficient.
Bless you.........

Hi--hope you are on the mend. I just prayed for you. (I have been fighting something the last few days--upset tummy, chills, headache--sticking to rice and toast!...I may have picked it up at the nursing home, don't know!).

The thing that has been weird is that lately I have just been so thankful. I will wake up in the middle of the night just thinking of all the things I have to be thankful for....then during the day I just am constantly thankful for different things. It is really a God-thing---It is like he keeps opening my eyes to everything to be thankful for!! I am so enjoying this, because this amount of thankfulness is not natural to me! God bless you as you seek to give thanks! (oh, my spiritual sunday thingy is on my regular nannykim blog: http://nannykim-nannykim.blogspot.com

Hi Jane

First let me say that I will definitely lift you and your parents in prayer. There does seem to be so much going around this year..I wanted to thank you for your comment on my blog and tell you it was JUST the point I was trying to make. Without the Holy Spirit dwelling in us and filling us with His joy, there is no way for the ordinary man to rejoice with those who rejoice no matter what their circumstances may be. And your SIL obviously was so full of Him at that point in her life, that it just spilled over in her conversation with you. And look at the effect it had on your life. It made me tear up too. Thanks so much for sharing this...Hope you feel better soon. Blessings to you, Debbie
