Dutch Apple Pie

  • 1 ready-to-bake pie crust
  • 6-7 apples 
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • topping (below)
  • 1 cup natural turbinado sugar
  • 1 cup unbleached flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 stick salted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  1. Peel apples and cut into bite-sized chunks.  Place them in a bowl and mix well with brown sugar and cinnamon.  
  2. Add apple mixture to pie crust.
  3. Prepare topping mixture (above) in a separate bowl;  sprinkle over apple mixture.
  4. Preheat oven at 425°F. Bake pie on parchment-lined baking sheet for 15 minutes.
  5. Cover edges of pie with foil.  Lower oven temperature to 375°F and bake for an additional 60 minutes.
